There is a song by Anna Nalick titled, “Breathe.” Woke up singing that song in my head this morning which put me into a bit of a philosophical mood—warn Will Robertson this blog just may be that way today, I’ll see how it goes!
The weekend just flew by again. It was supposed to be a mellow one where I was going to catch up on everything and get the house in order, maybe even write some longer blogs. Yeah, right. Stallion calls me at 8ish on Friday (realize I am a bit tuned when he called, because I was at a softball game and the beer was flowing freely) and says, “Hey they need a demo person to promote this energy drink at Costco. Its $15 bucks an hour, can you do it? They really need someone.” Me in my drunken state ponders…hmm, the money would be nice and the work isn’t rocket science. Sure, what the hell. So I pandered a product called ZipFizz (to which I could give you the whole schpeel, but go to the link, it talks about it there) and BTW they are looking for people to demo this on the weekends in the Twin Cities. The hours are 9:30-6 on Sat and 10-6 on Sunday (and those are a bit flexible from the discussion I had with the guy). If anyone knows of anyone in the Twin Cities area that needs some extra cashola -more info on the site. Needless to say though, I didn’t get ANYTHING done this weekend. Though I fully admit to it being my own fault, so whacha gonna do? Dishes can sit, the cat box did get changed, so eh, my car is a little dirty. THAT one is going to be taken care of at lunch today. Holy still messy car Batman. I did get a great run in Sunday morning. Ten miles and it was incredible. Finished in hour and ½. I was just flying (and that was after 9 hours of standing on my feet). Made for a great day. Hope the race this next weekend goes as well.
To end the weekend, I went to a bar-b-que over at Tech’s house. He and his friends were also brewing some fine pilsner ale (which btw, may taste good in the end but had a not so tempting aroma during the brewing process). Since I didn’t really know anyone there other than Tech all that well, I went for a wee nip o’ courage and the stories started flying from there. It was fascinating to observe though that of the women that were there (girlfriends or spouses of the guys there), none of them were storying as well. It was almost like they were in a submissive role, letting the men be the kings of the world while they sit back and take the secondary role. I am so not built that way, and in fact was called more of a bachelor than Tech—I am such a dude. I wonder what they thought of that, or if they even were aware of their lack of communication. Hrm. Its just interesting to watch group dynamics, particularly when you are the outsider.
So anywho this morning I wake up and sooooooooooo did not want to go into work today. Its not that I don’t enjoy my work, I just didn’t want to go. This was one of those mornings that I could have stayed in bed just lounging. Philosophical moods do that to me. I sat at my counter (since I don’t have a table and I eat at the counter bar) this morning just not wanting to get dressed, or do much of anything—even eat, which is odd for me. Just sit there and ponder—that’s what I wanted. But I am at work (though the server is down and I am typing this on word to post for later) and just still want to ponder…and breathe. Just breathe.
Better start doing more than that…
